Important  Note: The first Mishna in Pirkei Avos emphasizes the importance of Mesorah-Tradition. The Torah was passed down teacher to student, teacher to student for more than 3,000 years. When the sages wrote Pirkei Avos approx. 2000 years ago, it was written in a very concise, sometimes even cryptic way. This was because the writing was not intended to replace the invaluable teacher who would pass on the meaning as it was passed to him. Therefore to properly understand the Mishna, it is essential that the Mishna be studied with at least the short commentary found in the basic Artscroll edition or the Youth Edition. (if you have the Pirkei Avos Treasury with the more extensive commentary - even better).

                              About the program:
Our sages identify Torah study as the greatest Mitzvah - and the key to our spiritual growth. Just a few minutes of Torah transforms our day and infuses it with meaning.

Consistency is the key. Our Sages compare the words of Torah to water dripping on a rock: drop by drop, day by day, a few minutes of Torah can elevate us and change our lives.

We will study a small daily selection from Pirkei Avos - Ethics of the Fathers. At home, on the train or at work Jews across Long Island and beyond will unite in studying the same daily portion. Each selection will require no more than a few minutes to complete.

      • The program is open to men, women and children of all ages. This is a fantastic opportunity to share the joy of learning together with your family in your own home.
      • We offer a variety of resources to facilitate and enhance your personal study
        • "Pirkei Avos - Ethics of Our Fathers" books with English translation and commentary are available through LITN or directly from the publisher.
        • Every month a calendar showing each day's selection will be emailed in pdf form for downloading or printing.
        • Occasional multimedia supplements relevant to that day's study will be emailed to participants.
        • Questions and comments relating to the daily study may be submitted here.
      • Special events will celebrate the completion of a section of study
If you have any questions or would like more information about the program please call 917-554-8337  or contact us here.
